I was excited about the stop at North Carolina. I enjoy watching their men’s college basketball team, so I would enjoy the state itself, right? We stopped by the Lowes Motor Speedway and went around the stadium in a van driven by an old women who, while going 87 miles per hour, was messing with the air conditioner. It was a great (I mean terrifying) (and by terrifying I mean awesome) time. After getting settled in the hotel we worked our way to the local mall. After some unnecessary clothing purchases, Curtis, Chase, Kelton and I decided we didn’t want to walk downtown through the cold rain, so we grabbed our exact change of $1.50 and boarded the city bus back to our hotel. After about fifteen minutes of just the shock of public transportation, we got off in the rain to where we thought our hotel was, except there was no hotel. We then freaked out for a minute then turned to our resident boy scout, Chase who proceeded to tell us “he’s got this”. We started walking back the way we came. It was 40 degrees and raining, but we we’re strong (well….almost). We walked for what had seemed like 30 days (30 minutes) and we made it back to the street the hotel was on. We looked further and could see the “Bojangles” across the street, and it was then when we knew we made it. I accredit Chase for getting us home. Curtis and I just shut down and started panicking and Kelton was that quiet, yet helpless bystander. Bravo Chase. Even though not having a compass or a topographical map, you did well.
